The 23rd Annual Doormen's Dinner took place on October 18th at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel beginning with a colourful Parade of thirty Doormen from leading hotels around Metro Vancouver. All net proceeds from the gala Doormen's Dinner are donated to the CH.I.L.D. Foundation. The CH.I.L.D. Foundation was created in 1995 with the goal to find a cure for children who suffer from Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis and liver disorders. At this year's Doormen's Dinner during a pre-event ceremony, the CH.I.L.D. Foundation donated $5 Million Dollars to the Canadian Children Inflammatory Bowel Disease Network: A Joint Partnership of CIHR and the CH.I.L.D. Foundation.

Mary Parsons, President and Chief Executive Officer of the CH.I.L.D. Foundation said: "It is a privilege for the CH.I.L.D. Foundation to be involved with this fundraising event with the Doormen of Greater Vancouver. Over the past eighteen years the CH.I.L.D. Foundation has taken a severely underfunded health issue in children and raised the profile to such an extent that health providers and hospital leaders are now responsive to the needs of these children. The $5 Million Dollar donation to Canada's first network for pediatric IBD research is a result of the CH.I.L.D. Foundation's dedication to finding a cure through research."

This year's Honourary Doorman was Bill Millerd, Artistic Director of the Arts Club Theatre, celebrating its' 50th anniversary since it opened its' doors on Seymour Street in Vancouver.
