JW Marriott Marquis Dubai Shares Plans for Continued Success in 2014


DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES--(Marketwired - Dec 31, 2013) - The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai has won a phenomenal 15 international industry and media awards in its first year of operation.

The winning streak began for the new hotel in Dubai with the Guinness Book of World Records Award for World's Tallest Hotel this time last year and went from strength to strength scooping multiple media awards from publications such as Business Traveller Middle East, Time Out Dubai, Cherry Pick Dubai, Black Hat Guide, What's On, Pro Chef and international travel publication, Travel & Leisure.

In the second half of the year, Emirates owned JW Marriott Marquis Dubai was also awarded a number of impressive international titles -- International Hotel Awards Best Hotel 5* Award, Best Convention Hotel 5* Award, Best New Hotel Construction & Design 5* Award and World Travel Awards World's Leading New Hotel, both for the region and globally.

Chef de Cuisine Tyson Podolski was named Meat Chef of the Year 2013 for his work in the boutique Dubai steakhouse Prime 68, where the finest heritage beef from small batch producers is expertly selected and prepared. Chef de Cuisine Amrish Sood is also currently shortlisted as Chef of the Year with BBC Good Food, in the JW Marriott's Marquis Indian restaurant Rang Mahal by Atul Kochhar. Rang Mahal is shortlisted as Restaurant of the Year with BBC Good Food, which would be another notch on the belt of Michelin starred Chef Atul Kochhar.

2014 Plans for JW Marriott Marquis Dubai:

Year 2 of operation at the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai hotel near the Dubai Convention Center will see the introduction of the second tower, adding another 804 Dubai hotel suites and rooms to a total portfolio of 1,608, along with 2 additional food and beverage outlets. The hotel business focus for 2014 will be closely aligned with that of Dubai Commerce and Tourism Marketing (DTCM), which is working towards achieving its Tourism Vision for 2020. Events are a key pillar of the DTCM Tourism Vision 2020 and the JW Marriott Marquis is well placed to serve this segment as a leading Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Events hotel in the Middle East.

Additionally, the expansion of Emirates Airlines route network has resulted in many new business source markets presenting themselves across Europe and North America.
