50+ Electronics Journalists From Europe & Asia Travel to Bay Area 8th Annual Globalpress Electronics Summit in Santa Cruz April 26-29

For 8th Consecutive Year, US Tech Executives Meet International Media

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - January 12, 2010) - More than 50 journalists from electronics-trade publications in China, India, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and the Nordic countries are expected to travel to Northern California in April 2010 for the 8th annual Globalpress Electronics Summit, a press conference for semiconductor, electronic design automation and embedded-systems companies.

The conference will be held Monday, April 26, through Thursday, April 29, at the Chaminade Resort & Spa in Santa Cruz.

"C-level executives -- without having to travel abroad -- use the summit to bring their news to millions of design engineers and managers who read European and Asian trade publications," said Irmgard Lafrentz, president of Globalpress Connection and the conference founder. "Every year, outlets such as Electronic Engineering & Product World, EDN China, EE Times China, Electronics Weekly, and Markt & Technik generate hundreds of articles as a result of summit presentations, panel discussions and networking events." For the first time EE Herald of India, a major industry portal for the South Asian markets, will report directly from the conference.

So far, 30 editors from Asia and Europe have confirmed their attendance at the 2010 event, Lafrentz said. Approximately 20 more are expected to reserve their places over the next few weeks.

Green and MEMS market heat up, while cool tech is in 'the cloud'

Renewable energy, cloud computing and the growth of MEMs technology are panel topics to be led, respectively, by Michael Kanellos, editor-in-chief of GreenTech Media; Ron Wilson, EDN magazine executive editor; and Stephan Ohr, a Gartner research director and former journalist at EE Times. About a dozen journalists from U.S. trade and business publications also cover the summit, along with their international colleagues.

Executives from Altera, IBM, Gennum and National Semiconductor will be among the keynote speakers who will present to the international press contingent. About 75 percent of sponsoring companies typically come back every year to "meet the press," said Lafrentz. After placing several successful spokespeople over the years, National Semiconductor uses this event as a keynote platform for Mike Polacek Sr. VP of Key Market Segments and Business Development.

Companies may reserve a presentation or meeting slot by calling Globalpress Connection at (408) 246-6840 x101, or visiting www.globalpresspr.com.
