50,000 Downloads of Doceri 2.0 iPad Whiteboard, Screencasting App

Teachers Create and Share Their Own Lesson Videos via YouTube or Private Classroom Pages

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 27, 2012) - SP Controls today announced more than 50,000 teachers, business presenters and others have downloaded the Doceri iPad whiteboard app since its release in late July. Public school districts such as Waukeegan Public Schools in Illinois and higher education institutions such as East Tennessee State University have standardized on Doceri for their classrooms.

Teachers and business presenters use the Doceri 2.0 iPad whiteboard to remotely access, project and annotate over presentations, images and other content on a host Mac or PC while maintaining the freedom to move around the room and interact with their audiences. Using AppleTV, presentations created with Doceri can be wirelessly projected without connecting to a computer.

With Doceri 2.0, released July 24, 2012, SP Controls added audio/video screencasting as well as more sophisticated drawing capabilities for creating hand-written presentations and graphics. Teachers -- especially in math and science -- use the Doceri iPad whiteboard to create flipped classroom lesson videos, making them available to students via YouTube, private classroom pages or learning management sites. Doceri's YouTube channel highlights some of the more than 500 teacher screencasts that have been publicly posted in the last eight weeks.

"With Doceri, we've created a platform on which professional teachers can create and share hand-written video lessons, without forcing them to register for and store their lessons on a proprietary site," said Paul Brown, Doceri's chief architect and CEO of SP Controls. "You might think of it as the beginning of a crowd-sourced Kahn Academy."

About Doceri
Originally introduced in February 2011, Doceri was the first iPad whiteboard and remote computer control app. Connecting Doceri on the iPad either with AppleTV or a host Mac or PC and projector via WIFI, teachers and presenters can control and project any file or program resident on the computer via the iPad, annotate over presentations, images, PDFs and other files and save these annotated presentations for editing and later use.
