500px Launches Redesigned App for Android, New Galleries Feature for Android and iOS

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - Dec 4, 2015) - 500px today announces the launch of a completely redesigned app for Android. The new 500px for Android brings a brighter and more simplified experience to Android users. The company also announces today the launch of a new Galleries feature for Web, Android and iOS and a new app for Apple TV.

"500px has made incredible momentum over the past few months. We've brought both new technology and distribution opportunities to our community with the launch of our successful iOS app, expansion into China and several technology distribution partnerships," said Andy Yang, CEO of 500px. "With this launch, 500px continues to double down on its strategy to emerge as the market leader in this space."

The new 500px for Android simplifies the user experience across the app. With this update, 500px has added photo recommendations to make it easier to discover great new photographs and photographers; personalized the user's home feed with the photographers they follow; designed a new personal profile layout; made photos viewable in full aspect ratio; and improved the app's core search functionality.

The new 500px for Android, and updated 500px for iOS and Web, will also feature Galleries. Galleries allow everyone to curate content based on their personal visual style. With Galleries, 500px users will be able to group any public photos based on personal preferences or chosen themes, making them more discoverable within the 500px community.

Finally, on the heels of the launch of 500px for Roku and Chromecast, 500px introduces 500px for Apple TV. The new Apple TV app lets users enjoy curated Galleries from the world's best photo community on their TVs. With this launch, up to 20 million Apple TV users can view and enjoy select images from 500px.
