Wei Can Xie arrested in the GTA


OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jan. 28, 2014) - Canada Border Services Agency

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced the arrest of Wei Can Xie. Xie, who was posted on the Wanted by the CBSA website, was arrested in the Greater Toronto Area on January 17, 2014. The Wanted by the CBSA program, established in 2011, was created to enlist the help of Canadians in locating individuals ordered removed from Canada who had actively hidden their whereabouts from the CBSA.

  • Xie was arrested at a residence in Markham, Ontario by the Toronto Immigration Task Force (ITF) after receiving a tip from a member of the public.
  • Xie is inadmissible to Canada for serious criminality for being convicted of production of a controlled substance.
  • The Toronto ITF is a joint forces operation comprising personnel from the CBSA and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who work together to apprehend high-risk migrant fugitives.
  • To date, as a result of the "Wanted by the CBSA" program, Canadians have assisted in locating 51 individuals in Canada, of which 42 have been removed. Additionally, 11 other individuals were located abroad.

Members of the public are reminded that they should not take action to apprehend the individuals listed on the CBSA Web site. Any information on the whereabouts of these wanted individuals should be reported to the CBSA Border Watch Toll-free Line at 1-888-502-9060.
