$60,000 for Red Cross

Manitobans Step up to Help Haiti

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwire - March 11, 2010) - Peak of the Market announced today the results of their very unique fundraiser. For every bag of Peak of the Market vegetables purchased in Manitoba from February 8th to 28th, Peak of the Market Growers donated 20 cents to the Canadian Red Cross to help the people of Haiti.

Their announced target was to raise $40,000 for the Canadian Red Cross - 20 cents at a time. The final total exceeded all expectations with 259,341 bags sold of locally grown vegetables which equalled $51,868.20.

"We're thrilled to have over a quarter of a million bags of Manitoba grown vegetables sold in just 3 weeks, stated Larry McIntosh, President and CEO of Peak of the Market. "We are so exhilarated by the support Manitobans have shown us, we decided to increase our donation to $60,000 for the Canadian Red Cross."

This is Peak of the Market's single largest cash donation in their 68 year history.

Peak of the Market is a not for profit organization that represents 40 Manitoba Family Farms who grow over 120 different varieties of vegetables. Manitoba grown vegetables currently available are red, russet and yellow potatoes, carrots, parsnips and shallots.
