6,500 WALKers Raise Over $1,500,000 for Multiple Sclerosis

The 2010 MS WALK breaks all the Records!

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Dec. 3, 2010) - On Sunday, April 25, Sunday, June 6 and Sunday, September 12, more than 6,500 WALKers of all ages turned out for the 16th MS WALK for the benefit of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. Through their efforts, over $1,500,000 was raised.

This year, the provincial objective was $1,420,000, and for the first time in the history of the MS WALK, the objective was not only reached, but exceeded!

The WALK was held in 25 regions of Quebec: Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Boisbriand, Deux-Montagnes, Drummondville, Gatineau, Granby, Laval, Lévis, Montreal, Mont-Tremblant, Port-Cartier, Repentigny, Saint-Hyacinthe, Saint-Jérôme, Sainte-Catherine, Sept-Îles, Trois-Rivières, Alma, Baie-Comeau, Chicoutimi, Rimouski, Quebec City, Sherbrooke, Montreal East and Sorel-Tracy.

Television and radio host Sébastien Benoit, provincial spokesperson of the MS WALK, joined the event in Montreal for a fourth consecutive year.

The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada would like to thank all the WALKers, volunteers and organizers who made this event a huge success!

Multiple sclerosis is the most common neurological disease affecting young adults in Canada and from 13,000 to 18,000 people have MS in Quebec. It affects three times more women than men. Every step matters. Together we can end MS.
