7-Eleven(R) in Canada Launches In-Store Red Cross Campaign

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - May 05, 2016) - In response to the raging fire and mandatory evacuation of residents in Fort McMurray, Alberta, 7-Eleven® will conduct an in-store canister fundraising campaign in each of its Canadian outlets. Donations go to the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Fires Appeal.

"Our hearts go out to the tens of thousands of people affected by this devastating fire," says Raj Kapoor, Vice President and General Manager, 7-Eleven Canada. "We have stores, customers and employees in Fort McMurray and the surrounding area, and this brings it very close to home."

The 7-Eleven canister program in support of the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Fires Appeal will run in each of its Canadian stores through May 31, 2016. Kapoor adds: "We are considering other ways 7-Eleven can provide further support as the Red Cross completes their needs assessment."

"We are grateful for 7-Eleven's support of the Red Cross disaster relief efforts," said Ronan Ryan, Chief Development Office, Canadian Red Cross. "We thank 7-Eleven's operations for their generosity and unwavering support."

"We encourage our customers to give any sum they can afford. The canisters are in our stores for convenience, so they can contribute immediately," says 7-Eleven's Raj Kapoor.
