7th Annual Arthur R. Smith Awards Recognize Those Working on Front-Lines to End Homelessness in Calgary


CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - March 5, 2014) - The Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF) will honour recipients of the 2013 Arthur R. Smith Awards (Awards) on Thursday, March 6, 2014. Named after the CHF founder, the late Arthur R. Smith, these Awards recognize front-line staff and volunteers who exemplify excellence in providing housing with support to those at risk of or experiencing homelessness in Calgary. The Awards are made possible through the generous support of Mr. James Stanford.

Calgarians were invited to nominate an individual or team within the homeless-serving sector, excluding executive directors. In 2013, the three Awards are:

  • A front-line employee who demonstrates a strong commitment to Housing First and the goal to end homelessness
  • A front-line team that demonstrates a strong commitment to Housing First and the goal to end homelessness
  • Volunteers who demonstrates a long-term commitment to volunteerism in the homeless sector

WHAT: A luncheon to honour recipients of the 2013 Arthur R. Smith Awards
WHO: Mrs. Betty-Anne Smith, Mr. James Stanford QC, Mr. Gerrad Oishi, Interim President and CEO of CHF, award recipients, nominators, friends, family, co-workers and selection committees
WHEN: Thursday March 6, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Media are invited to the presentation ceremonies which start at 12:15 p.m.
Photo and interviews with recipients will be available after the awards presentation.
