7th Annual Scotiabank Walk, Roll & Run for Roger's House Presented by the Ottawa Citizen set for Sunday, June 20

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 19, 2010) - The Sens Foundation today introduced members of Roger's Dream Team, a group of 10 Roger's House clients and their families assembled to spearhead fundraising efforts for the Scotiabank Walk, Roll & Run for Roger's House presented by the Ottawa Citizen. The event will take place on Sunday, June 20, at Scotiabank Place.

Roger's Dream Team is part of an innovative fundraising campaign that encourages local businesses to sponsor one of its 10 members. One such member is Ollie Lumley-Pfeil, 2, who has faced an inordinate number of challenges during his young life after he was deprived of oxygen at birth. Adopted by parents Sue and Missy when he was six months old, Ollie has grown into an exuberent toddler, who along with his three-year-old sister, Zoey, another Roger's House Dream Team member, has made tremendous strides and inspires others with his determination and will to succeed.

"After reading Ollie's story, I knew this was something we wanted to do," said Melanie Smith, director of business rental sales, Enterprise Holdings, parent company of National Hockey League partner Enterprise Rent-A-Car and proud member of Enterprise Team Ollie. "It's motivated our entire staff to participate and help make a difference."

This year's Scotiabank Walk, Roll & Run for Roger's House promises to be another success with its Tot-Trot, 2km PricewaterhouseCoopers and 5km Mattamy Homes routes. Event activities, sponsored by Waste Management, include a Family Fun Zone, Sens Street Tour activities, balloon artists, Little Ray's Reptiles, live entertainment, lunch for participants and much more.

The Sens Foundation has made a long-term commitment to cover a portion of the annual operating costs for Roger's House. Walk, Roll & Run provides an opportunity to get involved and support the Sens Foundation, while making an important and lasting contribution to countless children and their families in a time of need.

Last year, the event raised $216,022 and boasted more than 700 participants. Ottawa Senators forward Shean Donovan took part in the ceremonies. Having raised $950,000 in its six-year history, Walk, Roll & Run for Roger's House is set to eclipse the million-dollar mark this year.

"The opportunity to be part of a great event for such a worthy cause made our sponsorship choice an easy one," said Emily Farrell, vice-president of Scotiabank's Ottawa River District. "I'm looking forward to meeting the dream team and watching the entire community come out to rally around them."

Roger's House is the charity of choice of the Sens Foundation. Since opening its doors in May 2006, Roger's House has had close to 1,000 admissions from across Ontario. The welcoming home-away-from-home atmosphere comforts children and families that are admitted to the state-of-the-art, eight-bedroom facility, where dedicated professionals and volunteers provide the best in compassionate care and support.
