7th Annual Spring Value Investing Congress Moves to Omaha, First Speakers Announced

OMAHA, NE--(Marketwire - Nov 21, 2011) - Schwartz Tilson Information, Inc. announced today that the 7th Annual Spring Value Investing Congress will be held for the first time in Omaha, Nebraska and unveiled the initial speaker lineup for the event. The conference, on May 6 and 7, 2012 at Omaha's CenturyLink Center, immediately follows the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Meeting.

"Though we have no association with Berkshire Hathaway, the company's annual meeting has long been a mecca for value investors around the world so we are delighted to be giving them one more reason to come to -- and spend a couple of extra days in -- Omaha," said Whitney Tilson, co-founder of the Value Investing Congress and co-managing partner of T2 Partners and Tilson Mutual Funds. "After six fantastic years in Pasadena, we look forward to hosting the Congress in Omaha at one of the most exciting times of the year. Many of the attendees who've joined us in the past have already planned their trips -- and we expect to see lots of new faces too."

Created by disciples of Benjamin Graham and Warren Buffett, the Value Investing Congress is recognized as one of the premier events for value investors. The two-day conference is the place to network with other sophisticated investors, gain clarity on the current investment climate, and come away with profitable investment ideas.

"The speaker lineup for Omaha is already shaping up to be one of the best we've had," said Value Investing Congress Co-Founder John L. Schwartz, M.D. "Each of these speakers -- several returning and several new -- will share a unique perspective and compelling, actionable ideas. Plus, we'll be announcing exciting additions to the lineup in the coming months."

Initial confirmed speakers for the 7th Annual Spring Value Investing Congress include:

  • Carlo Cannell, Cannell Capital LLC
  • Douglas A. Kass, Seabreeze Partners Management Inc.
  • David Nierenberg, The D3 Family Funds
  • Whitney Tilson and Glenn Tongue, T2 Partners
  • Matt Swaim and Bruce M. Zessar, Advisory Research, Inc.
  • Keith D. Trauner and Larry Pitkowsky, GoodHaven Capital Management, LLC

The day after the Congress, on May 8, 2012, Whitney Tilson and Glenn Tongue of T2 Partners will host an advanced seminar on value investing. Utilizing real-world case studies, Tilson and Tongue will share how they analyze and value companies and identify promising investment opportunities. Past participants have realized significant benefits from this intensive workshop, describing it as "an investment that pays for itself" with information that can be "immediately put to use."
