$816 Million Jury Verdict Lands Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass Partner Jessica Grant on Daily Journal "Top 100" List

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 17, 2013) - Jessica Grant, a litigation partner at Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass LLP, was selected by the Daily Journal as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in California for 2013. Grant's reputation for "felling giants" was noted, as well as her work securing an $816 million jury verdict for the state of New Hampshire in a water contamination case against ExxonMobil and others. The sizeable award came even after a negotiated $130 million in other settlements.

With central claims involving both products liability and negligence, Grant's work on the ExxonMobil case was aimed at proving the oil company's negligence in adding the chemical MTBE to gas and failing to warn consumers of the danger. Citgo Petroleum Corp. was also a defendant in the case but settled after Grant's opening statement. She is also credited with landing a $172 million verdict against Wal-Mart in a class action on behalf of 116,000 employees denied meal and rest breaks, and, this time working on behalf of a corporate "giant," Grant successfully defended Intel against a $450 million breach of contract and patent case.

Grant focuses on complex litigation involving environmental, employment, patent and antitrust matters. She was named a California Lawyer Attorney of the Year for her work on the Wal-Mart case and was recognized among the "Top Women Litigators in California" by the Daily Journal. Grant earned her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law (1995) and her B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley (1990).
