9th International Forum on Semiconductor Technology Opens May 18 in Arlington, VA

AUSTIN, TX and RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 3, 2006 -- SEMATECH and Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) will co-host the 9th International Forum on Semiconductor Technology (IFST), a global forum of microchip industry experts and executives, May 18-19 at Hyatt Crystal City in Arlington, VA.

Featured at the public event will be a keynote address by Dr. Lisa Su, Vice President of IBM's Semiconductor Research and Development Center. Dr. Su is responsible for IBM's R&D in silicon process technologies. Also, an opening address will be delivered by SEMATECH President and CEO Michael R. Polcari.

Overall, the IFST will provide global perspectives on the state-of-the-art and direction of critical semiconductor technologies. Session topics include design for manufacturing, front-end processes, lithography, interconnect, human resources, and R&D funding. Each of these six consecutive sessions will be followed by a panel discussion among topic experts. Sponsors in addition to SEMATECH and SRC include ASET, IMEC, LETI, Medea+, MIRAI, Selete, STARC, and the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS).

IFST 2006 is being held in conjunction with the National Science Foundation National Nanotechnology Initiative (NSF-NNI) 2006 Conference and the Second International Nanotechnology Conference on Communications and Cooperation (INC2).
