A Woman's Touch Is by Design at Chesmar Homes

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - October 29, 2007) - Chesmar Homes knows the best way to market to women is to give them what they want -- an energy efficient home with all the extras... designed by a woman. That's why Jana Blackburn has been the Director of Design for Chesmar Homes in Houston since its inception.

"I have a different view on homebuilding," explains Blackburn. "When I design the house, I take many things into account. I even think about how the furniture will be situated because that is part of my interior design background."

The impact women have on the real estate marketplace is growing daily. Many sources argue that women make as much as 91% of the home buying decisions. According to the National Homebuyers Association, the number of women homebuyers has more than doubled in the past decade, and single women now account for 21% of home sales.

Blackburn has been designing homes since 1994 and has spent much of her time interacting with customers to find out exactly what they want in their new home.

"Jana spends a great deal of time listening to what our customers want," says Don Klein, President of Chesmar Homes. "She's very careful to follow through on the specifics. That, in turn, helps our team to be successful."

A Houston-based homebuilder, Chesmar Homes offers plans from 1,500 to over 3,400 square feet with prices ranging from the $140s to the $280s. Ten thousand dollars in upgrades are included as standard in each new Chesmar Home. The list of standard upgrades includes a refrigerator, full-size washer and dryer, window treatments and a garage door opener. The homes are built to exceed Energy Star ratings with insulated, double-pane windows that tilt in for easy cleaning, a 14 SEER HVAC system, natural gas furnace (as well as gas cooking), and radiant barrier roof decking.
