AAF® International Demonstrates Advancements in Energy Savings Strategies

LOUISVILLE, KY--(Marketwire - November 2, 2009) - AAF® International, manufacturer of American Air Filter® and AAF products, demonstrates advancements in energy savings strategies at the International Healthy Buildings 2009 Conference in Syracuse, New York.

Mr. Brad Stanley (AAF's Global Technical Support Leader, Gas Phase Filtration) presented a paper at the Healthy Buildings International Conference where green building research and sustainability presentations were presented and discussed. Mr. Stanley's paper, entitled "Determining Contaminants of Concern When Implementing ASHRAE Standard 62.1 Indoor Air Quality Procedure," focused on suggested strategies for ASHRAE's ventilation Standard 62.1 for reduced outdoor ventilation rates to reduce energy consumption associated with the conditioning of outdoor air.

Ensuring acceptable indoor air quality under reduced outdoor air ventilation rates is a concern that can be addressed by focusing on select indoor air contaminants. This paper presents suggested contaminants for consideration as the green building community looks for ways to reduce building energy consumption for existing buildings and net zero energy consumption for newer buildings.

Gas phase filtration has successfully been used in applications where ventilation rates were reduced and the indoor air quality improved, resulting in substantial energy cost savings and reduced green house gas emissions associated with fossil fuel energy generation.
