AAFC: Appointment to Atlantic Farm Credit Canada

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 31, 2007) - The Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board, today announced the appointment of Donald Bettle as the Atlantic Director of Farm Credit Canada.

"I congratulate Mr. Bettle on his appointment," said Minister Strahl. "His expertise in the dairy industry combined with decades of experience in the agriculture industry will be a valuable asset to both Farm Credit Canada and Maritime farmers."

Farm Credit Canada has been offering financial and business services to the agricultural community since 1959, actively partnering with other financial and agricultural institutions to finance a wide range of farm-related projects and strengthen rural Canada.

The appointment is effective immediately and is valid for three years.

Biographical Notes - Donald Bettle

Donald Bettle has spent the last 30 years working in the agricultural industry in New Brunswick. He was formerly the Chairman of the Canadian Atlantic Dairy Export Co-op and administers the Canadian Quality Milk Program. His past achievements include serving on a committee to develop Canada's trade position for agriculture and WTO, serving as Chairman and Director on the Dairy Farmers of New Brunswick, and Directing the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and the Agriculture Producers Association.
