AAFC: Appointment to Farm Credit Canada Saskatchewan

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 31, 2007) - The Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board, today announced the appointment of Brad Hanmer as the Saskatchewan Director of Farm Credit Canada.

"I congratulate Mr. Hanmer on his appointment," said Minister Strahl. "His expertise in the agricultural industry along with his entrepreneurial background in the grain business will provide a great foundation for Saskatchewan farm businesses and help create a roadmap to farming success in the province."

Farm Credit Canada has been offering financial and business services to the agricultural community since 1959, actively partnering with other financial and agricultural institutions to finance a wide range of farm-related projects and strengthen rural Canada.

The appointment is effective immediately and valid for three years.

Biographical Notes - Brad Hanmer

Along with his parents and two brothers, Brad Hanmer currently owns and operates a successful commercial grain and pedigreed seed farm and runs a family-owned seed retail and seed processing/exporting businesses. He has served as President of the Saskatchewan Canola Growers' Association. In the past, as an agronomist, Mr. Hanmer was responsible for the research of pesticides, advised on organic grain, and provided farm marketing options. He has served as Director for the Canadian Canola Growers Association and was the founding Chairman of the Bio-diesel Association of Canada-fostering the commercialization of bio-diesel in Canada.
