AEMQ: Cogitore Resources Inc. Named "Prospector of the Year" for 2009

QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 26, 2009) - During the Quebec Exploration 2009 convention, which took place from November 23 to 26, the Association de l'exploration miniere du Quebec (AEMQ) held its annual award ceremony to announce recipients of this year's Reconnaissance Awards. The prizes awarded in the different categories aim to showcase the dynamic spirit, excellence, and entrepreneurship of companies and individuals working to develop the mineral exploration industry in Quebec.

The 2009 award recipients are:

IAMGOLD Corporation – "Development of the Year Award"

This award is attributed to a person or a team that has contributed to the development of a mining project, leading the project to the start-up of production. IAMGOLD Corporation is advancing development of its Westwood Project in the Abitibi region, toward an expected start-up date in 2013.

Mr. Edwin Gaucher – "Hector-Authier Award"

Recognized by his peers for his passion for prospecting, this prize is attributed to Mr. Gauthier to acknowledge the career of an individual who, through his work over many years, has made a significant contribution to the development of mining entrepreneurship in Quebec.

Forages M. Rouillier – "IAMGOLD Service Provider of the Year Award"

This award acknowledges the work of a service provider that, through its development, its dynamic approach and expansion of its activities, has significantly supported the development of mineral exploration in Quebec or abroad. Over the span of three generations, the family-run business Forages M. Rouillier has successfully developed practices and equipment well-suited for the different environments in which the company is active.

Osisko Mining Corporation – "Entrepreneur of the Year Award"

The Entrepreneur of the Year Award acknowledges the work of an entrepreneur whose company has experienced significant progress. Over the past year, Osisko Mining Corporation has seen its Canadian Malartic Project receive all the authorizations needed to proceed with the sustainable and responsible development of the largest open pit gold mine in Canada.

Mr. Martin Simard – "Jean-Descarreaux Award"

This award is attributed to acknowledge the quality of Mr. Simard's publications, which contributed in increasing geoscience knowledge as it relates to mineral exploration, thereby leading to increased exploration activity.

Aurizon Mines Ltd – "e3 Plus Award"

The e3 Plus Award is granted to a company to recognize its high level of environmental and social responsibility and its compliance with best practices recommended in the e3 Plus online toolkit: A Framework for Responsible Exploration.

Aurizon Mines is developing the Joanna Project along the Cadillac Fault, in a near-urban setting in the Abitibi region. In accordance with the e3 Plus framework, Aurizon Mines proceeded with extensive public consultations so as to include in its pre-feasibility study all of the social and environmental issues relating to its project.

Cogitore Resources Inc. – "Prospector of the Year Award"

The 2009 Prospector of the Year Award is attributed to Cogitore Resources, for the discovery of new mineralized zones on its Scott Lake Project, located northwest of Chibougamau.

Despite a dramatic drop in base metal prices, Cogitore's exploration team is reaping the rewards of its efforts as it discovered new massive sulphide lenses in a mature mining camp such as Chibougamau.

Now recognized as one of the most important geoscience and mineral exploration conventions in Canada, "Quebec Exploration" is a joint event co-hosted by the Association de l'exploration miniere du Quebec and the Ministere des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune. Breaking new attendance records year after year, the 2009 edition is no exception, with close to 2,000 delegates and visitors over the four days of events.
