AJWright Gives "The Gift of Happy" This Holiday Season

Premieres Holiday Video to Benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of America

COLUMBUS, OH--(Marketwire - November 17, 2009) - AJWright is giving shoppers even more this holiday season -- happiness. AJWright, a leading off-price retailer, premiered a sneak peek of its video, "The Gift of Happy," created to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of America, on Tuesday at a red carpet event with hundreds in attendance. Following the event, the video launched on, and for each view, the retailer will donate $1 to Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

"The Gift of Happy" is told through the unique art of shadow puppetry and features current members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus. The children played an integral role in creating the shadow images used to tell the story of "Happy the Bear" and his journey toward self-acceptance.

"'The Gift of Happy' tells a story that resonates with everyone, regardless of their background, and conveys a universal message of staying true to oneself," said Kathy Clair, AJWright assistant vice president of marketing. "We hope to reach as many people as possible and motivate them to share the video with family and friends."

During production, AJWright hosted workshops with world-renowned shadow master Bob Stromberg to share the art of shadow puppetry with the children from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus. "The Gift of Happy" is told through this unique performance art and the members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus played an integral role in creating the shadow puppet images used throughout the video.

"What transpired during the shadow puppet workshops was truly magical," said Rebecca Asmo, Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus director of development. "This project has provided the children from our club a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and AJWright has helped to reinforce the message that anything is possible when one is given the opportunity."

The video will be posted on, and can also be viewed on YouTube and Facebook. Customers can sign up for exclusive emails to be in on promotions and events before everyone else at, and become a fan of AJWright at
