UNDECLARED WHEAT AND SULPHITES IN T&T COCONUT CAKE; Audio clips available at Attention: Food/Beverage Editor, Health/Medical Editor OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 22, 2005) - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and T&T Supermarket are warning people with allergies to wheat protein or sensitivities to sulphites not to consume the coconut cake described below. The affected product contains wheat, and may contain sulphites, which are not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have allergies to wheat protein or sensitivities to sulphites.

The affected product, T&T Coconut Cake is sold in a 450g package bearing UPC 0 776703 621216. All Best Before codes of this product are affected by the alert. This product has been distributed in British Columbia and Alberta.

The manufacturer, T&T Supermarket, Richmond, British Columbia, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life threatening reaction in persons with allergies to wheat protein or sensitivities to sulphites. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
