AMACO Sponsors Ceramic Workshop by Renowned Artist Madeline Kaczmarczyk

INDIANAPOLIS, IN--(Marketwire - April 21, 2010) -  This month the American Art Clay Company takes time to honor famous women artists and inspire the next generation of female artists. Workshop highlights include ceramic art history, an in-depth talk about notable women ceramic artists and hands-on studio time on both days of the workshop.

This workshop will be lead by Madeline Kaczmarczyk, an Adjunct Associate Professor of Art at Aquinas College located in Grand Rapids, MI where she teaches all levels of ceramics including wheel throwing, hand building, and both high and low fire glazes and kiln firings. This not-to-be missed two-day event will take place on Friday, April 23, 2010 from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM to the workshop's conclusion. The $125.00 workshop fee also includes lunch.

Past ceramics experience is helpful but not a must, so beginners and professionals alike can leave the ceramic kiln at home and sit back to learn, experience and share with Ms. Kaczmarczyk. Brickyard Ceramics is handling registration and queries and may be contacted at 317-244-5230 or 800-677-3289.

After Friday's full agenda, all are welcome to attend an opening and reception at the AMACO/Brent Contemporary Clay Gallery from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. This exhibit displays the world of Ms. Kaczmarczyk and her husband, Jerry Berta, and will run until June 11, 2010. Admission is free and the gallery is open Monday to Friday from 9AM to 4PM.

Ms. Kaczmarczyk works primarily in clay and comes from a family of artistically minded women, as both her mother and grandmother were artists in their own right. "The women in our family make beauty with their hands. At the core was the need to express what could not be put in words and for the joy of creation. My working mission statement was therefore written on my heart, but it was not until I was a 'middle years' adult that I could hear it clearly," Kaczmarczyk said.
