AMAPCEO Named Two Years in a Row as "Top 100" Employer in Canada; Also Second Time as "Top 50" Employer in the GTA

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 9, 2007) - The Association of Management, Administrative and Professional Crown Employees of Ontario (AMAPCEO) has been named for the second year in a row to the annual list of the Top 100 Employers in Canada, it was announced today in Maclean's Magazine.

In addition, the Association was honoured again as one of the Top 50 Employers in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), where its office and staff are located.

The first union in Canada to be included as a Top 100 or Top 50 Employer, AMAPCEO represents 10,000 professional and supervisory civil servants who work for the Government of Ontario in over 100 communities throughout the province.

AMAPCEO President and CEO Gary Gannage congratulated AMAPCEO members and the staff who work on their behalf: "Our members value the work of our staff and know that the way we treat our own employees sends a clear message to our employer -the Government of Ontario- about how public servants should be treated."

Gannage paid particular tribute to the AMAPCEO staff for their work in serving the interests of members across the Province. "As I noted last year, when we were selected for the 2007 list of top employers, building an effective, collegial workplace requires a contribution by everyone: workers and managers and their families; bargaining agents; stakeholders; and the leadership of the organization. Winning these national and regional awards a second time is external confirmation that the AMAPCEO community continues to work in an effective partnership."

Maclean's is running a cover story on the 2008 Top 100 employers in its October 15th edition, which is being distributed nationally today. The Toronto Star features a special supplement on the GTA top employers on Saturday, October 13th.
