AME BC Congratulates New Federal Natural Resources Minister

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 19, 2010) - The Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia (AME BC) today congratulated Member of Parliament Christian Paradis (Megantic—L'Erable) for being appointed Minister of Natural Resources Canada.

"The British Columbia mineral exploration sector welcomes the appointment of Minister Paradis," said Gavin C. Dirom, President & CEO of AME BC. "We are fortunate to have a new Minister with mining in his riding. Minister Paradis has firsthand knowledge of the opportunities and challenges associated with mineral exploration, development and resource extraction."

Minister Paradis has a track record of standing up for provincial interests and for the mining sector. More significantly, Minister Paradis is well positioned to address issues regarding overlap of federal and provincial environmental assessment and permitting—something of critical industry to the issue.

"We look forward to meeting the new Minister in the near future and hope he will be in British Columbia, Canada's centre of excellence in mineral exploration and development, in the near future," concluded Dirom.
