APTARE Makes Quantum Leap for Storage Resource Management With StorageConsole 8

New SAN Fabric Reporting Product Enables Full-Spectrum Storage Resource Management

CAMPBELL, CA--(Marketwire - June 22, 2010) -  Enterprise storage resource management leader APTARE®, Inc., today announced the newest release of its flagship platform, StorageConsole® 8. The new StorageConsole 8 platform is proof of APTARE's mission of challenging the status quo and adopting state-of-the-art Web technologies to simplify the management of complex enterprise storage environments.

APTARE StorageConsole 8 allows IT administrators to proactively monitor their entire storage environment through one centralized Web 2.0 console. With the addition of SAN fabric reporting, APTARE StorageConsole now gives storage administrators a 360° view of their storage: backup, primary storage, virtualization, replication and the storage network (SAN). The new SAN fabric reporting provides increased visibility of SAN components with topology mapping, superior change management and performance reporting through interactive dashboards that leverage HTML5.

"The complexity of today's storage environment can make an IT administrator's head spin. Most products only report on a limited scope, making it extremely difficult to manage the company's entire storage environment," explained Rick Clark, president and CEO of APTARE. "With StorageConsole Fabric Manager and the new technology advancements in APTARE StorageConsole 8, we have created the most intuitive, full-spectrum storage management application available today."

APTARE is announcing the addition of APTARE StorageConsole Fabric Manager to the APTARE suite of StorageConsole products. APTARE StorageConsole Fabric Manager gives IT administrators the ability to proactively manage the dynamic environment of the SAN. Critical success factors for IT administrators include the ability to gain true visibility into the SAN environment, manage and understand the changes to this environment, and provide necessary feedback to run at optimal performance. APTARE StorageConsole Fabric Manager provides these benefits:

  • Visibility: Provides insight into the SAN, no matter the complexity of servers or vendor setup. Interactive Web-based dashboards display a real-time topology of the paths from the host to its storage.
  • Change Management: Easily identifies and trends changes made to the SAN fabric over time with proactive monitoring and alerting when changes are made that will affect service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Performance: Ensures the SAN fabric from the edge to the core is operating at peak performance, no matter the complexity.

"Making sense of enterprise storage is no easy task, especially when it includes large, complex SANs that are constantly changing to support highly dynamic virtualized server environments," said Bob Laliberte, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. "Storage administrators strive to deliver optimal performance to all their applications -- more so for tier-one and mission-critical -- but many struggle to achieve that goal in highly virtualized environments due to a lack of visibility. StorageConsole Fabric Manager's ability to proactively monitor SAN changes and performance means that administrators now have detailed insight into the moving parts of the SAN, to ensure all applications are running at optimum performance."
