AXA Art Insurance Supports Monumental Sculpture Exhibition by Internationally Acclaimed Artist Bernar Venet

Unveiling of sculptures in historic Hermann Park, Houston

NEW YORK, NEW YORK--(Marketwire – Jan. 15, 2010) - AXA Art Insurance, the world's leading insurer of fine art and collectibles, announced its support of the unprecedented nine-month exhibition, of works by internationally acclaimed French artist, Bernar Venet. Beginning January 23rd, a cultural coalition led by the Texan French Alliance for the Arts, will unveil a series of monumental sculptures on the grounds of Houston's historic Hermann Park. The massive steel structures that stand up to 30 feet high and weigh up to 25,000 pounds, will transform Hermann Park into a public sculpture garden.

Benar Venet, is widely recognized as one of the world's most important artists, His distinguished career dates back to the 60s. His sculptures have been exhibited in major cities in the United States, Asia, Europe and South America. Houston is among 20 international cities including Paris, Brussels, Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, New York, Chicago and San Diego to host a Bernar Venet exhibition.

The project is made possible by the McClain Gallery and endorsed by the City of Houston, the French Consulate, the Hermann Park Conservancy, the Houston Parks and Recreation Department.
