AboCom Achieves TELEC Certification for Ultra-Wideband Wireless System

AboCom Wireless USB Dongle Using Artimi MAC and WiMedia-Compliant Third-Party PHY Achieves Certification of Conformance to Technical Regulations From TELEC Japan

TOKYO--(Marketwire - October 3, 2007) - AboCom, a leading provider of wireless communication solutions, has achieved certification of conformance to the Radio Law of Japan, for its ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless system, as enforced by the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), using an Artimi A-150MAC and a WiMedia PHY. The certification demonstrates AboCom's commitment to delivering production-ready Wireless USB solutions in partnership with leading UWB vendors.

This certification follows an extensive testing process carried out by Telecom Engineering Center (TELEC) Foundation, and states that UWU6D00/H00 can be legally operated according to the technical regulations of the Radio Law of Japan, operating wirelessly within 4.2GHz to 4.8GHz (Band 3 of Band Group One).

The AboCom UWB family of products will be demonstrated at the Artimi booth this week at CEATEC Japan, which runs through October 6, 2007. Artimi is demonstrating ultra simple wireless multimedia file transfer between portable consumer devices. Artimi's CEATEC Japan booth is located at 2A 61, Hall 2, Home & Personal Zone.

Calvin Chang, executive vice president of AboCom, noted: "We are pleased to introduce such an exciting technology here in Japan, and have been delighted with the cooperation of our partners, especially Artimi. Our integration and product development was rapid and the product will be available for evaluation this month."

According to Colin Macnab, CEO of Artimi: "Whilst we've focused on making UWB ultra simple for consumers, we have also ensured ease of integration for our partners, thereby adding to their competitive advantage, and accelerating their route to market."
