Absolute Poker College Challenge Final to Be Streamed Live by Bluff

The Leading Online Poker Site's College Player of the Year Competition Will Showcase the Top Six Students in a Live Final Table on January 21st With a Grand Prize of $10,000 in Tuition and the Title at Stake

MIAMI, FL--(Marketwire - January 20, 2010) - On January 21st, when the top six students from the Absolute Poker College Challenge ("APCC") Main Event return to the table to battle it out for the title of 'Player of the Year,' they'll be swapping the virtual felt for the real deal, and competing for the bragging rights, $10,000 in free tuition, a custom-made APCC championship ring, and the chance to tell their story to the poker world via BluffMagazine.com.

In the same vein as the WSOP's delayed 'November Nine,' the APCC tournament series will finally culminate in a land-based final table scheduled for this Thursday, January 21 at 11:00 PST in the Bluff Media studio in Los Angeles. The six qualifiers who commandeered their way through the November 30th Main Event field of College hopefuls are still in the running to earn some serious cash; it's one of the hottest nationwide campus rivalries ever that's awarding $10,000 for first place, $5,000 for second, $3,500 for third, $3,000 for fourth, $2,500 for fifth, and $2,000 for sixth.

Interested viewers will be able to follow all the APCC action streamed live online at Bluffmagazine.com and at AbsolutePoker.com with expert commentary provided by AP Pro player Matt Vengrin and Team UB Pro Joe Sebok, with support on the rails from AP Pro Trishelle Cannatella.

FUHRANKLAN, an 18 year-old freshman from Florida, is the youngest APCC contestant, and enters Thursday's final as the chip leader with 23,003 chips. Attending City College of New York, and yet to decide on a Major, one thing he is sure of is that rising to the head of the class to compete against his poker peers this week is his biggest poker achievement to date. There's $10,000 tuition on the line, so expect him to bring his best game.

Sitting in second place is MSBHVNTWIN with 17,413 chips. Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, the 28 year-old freshman at Anthem College majoring in Computer Networking and Security, will use the $10,000 tuition first place prize money to repay student loans and to add to his poker bankroll.

MSBHVNTWIN has been playing online poker since the Moneymaker boom, and now that he's a student again, he thinks its great to have an affordable promotion for college students with large rewards. He explains, "The idea of winning $10k in a live setting for a $5 investment is going to be such a rush, and it's opened the door for an amazing opportunity by simply playing the game we all love."

The 20 year-old CRISSTOOPHER from Upstate New York enters the event in third chip lead with 14,011 in chips. The sophomore at ITT Technical Institute in New York plans to use the prize money won to help pay for the remainder of his tuition, which will come in with a hefty annual $25,000 price tag when he transfers to SUNY next Fall.

Fourth-placed New Yorker MOONLIGHT220 with 10,115 chips is a 21 year-old attending New York College of Technology. He has been playing poker since the tender age of seven, but only switched to the game of Texas Hold 'em four years ago. He aims to make his brothers proud, who he credits for honing his poker strategy.

In fifth spot is KAZIBETTA, low-stacked with 4,120 chips. The 22 year-old native of Jackson, Florida, is a Business Management student at Ashworth College who first tuned into the game of poker last summer watching episodes of the WSOP on television. He takes to the felt in the L.A. APCC final as the clear underdog, as this will be his first live tournament since taking up the game several months back.

The sixth and final player to qualify for the APCC final table is BROCK_1923 from Concordia University, Wisconsin. A clash with his class schedule will prevent him from participating in this Thursday's live event.
