Action Engine Expands Mass Market Wireless Phone Support for RIM Wireless Devices

Company Now Provides Support for More Than 80 Percent of U.S. Handsets, Including Popular BlackBerry Devices

BELLEVUE, WA--(Marketwire - November 26, 2007) - Action Engine® Corporation, The On-Device Portal Company™, today announced that the wireless portals and mobile applications that it builds for media companies will run on Research in Motion's (RIM) popular BlackBerry® wireless devices. Action Engine now offers the widest cross-platform support of any on-device portal company, covering more than 80% of the U.S. handset market including Java, BREW, Windows Mobile, Symbian and now RIM-powered devices.

The addition of RIM support enables Action Engine's customers to launch mobile applications on popular devices such as the BlackBerry® Pearl and Curve handsets, which are used by both business professionals and mass market consumers alike. According to recent market data from ABI Research, RIM held 44 percent of the smartphone market in the second quarter of 2007 with more than 10 million BlackBerry subscriber accounts and more than 20 million handsets shipped.

A J.D. Power and Associates survey released this month also indicated that RIM's BlackBerry devices received the highest ranking for smartphone user satisfaction, the most important criteria for preventing handset churn. The survey also found that 35 percent of smartphone owners download third-party software, including downloadable applications and on-device portals like those created on the Action Engine platform.

"Smartphones, like those built by RIM, are far outpacing overall handset sales as well as laptop shipments," said Scott G. Silk, president and CEO of Action Engine. "Media companies that want to reach mobile enterprise customers and consumers need to work with technology companies that understand how to deploy services on the more than 700 different types of phones found in the U.S. market today. Action Engine's cross-platform support makes us the logical choice for companies that want to deliver a superior mobile user experience on the broadest array of devices."
