Adaptec Appoints New Vice President and General Manager of Storage Solutions Group

Storage Executive With Strategic Marketing and Entrepreneurial Skills Chosen to Lead Snap Server Brand of Storage Systems and Software Solutions

MILPITAS, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 16, 2006 -- Adaptec, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADPT), a global leader in storage solutions, today announced that it has appointed Stephen Terlizzi as vice president and general manager of the Storage Solutions Group. With a distinguished 17-year career, Terlizzi brings broad experience in creating, building and marketing storage businesses, particularly those based on high-value storage software solutions.

Most recently, Terlizzi was the vice president of global marketing at Atempo, Inc., a storage software company specializing in data protection and archiving solutions, where he built a global marketing organization and repositioned the company into higher-growth market segments. Prior to that, he was vice president of marketing and business development at Candera, Inc. where he launched the company's first enterprise-class network storage controller. Terlizzi also held senior sales and marketing management positions at EMC Corporation, most recently as product line director for the Symmetrix product family, but was also a key member of the management team that first established EMC Japan K.K.
