Adapx Showcases New Capturx™ Cloud Service for SharePoint, Forms Automation, and Digital Pens at 2010 AIIM Expo + Conference

MACTEC Engineering Uses New Capturx Cloud Service to Easily Automate Documentation for Infrastructure Inspections and Compliance

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - April 20, 2010) -  Adapx (, the company that is changing the way mobile teams collect data and collaborate, today announced the commercial availability of the Capturx™ for SharePoint Service for automating data collection on paper forms with digital pens. The new cloud service will be demonstrated live at this week's 2010 AIIM Expo + Conference in Philadelphia in booth CC1943. Attendees will learn how mobile workers in over 500 organizations including Holland America, the U.S. Courts, and MACTEC are using the new Capturx cloud service as well as its on-premise solutions deployed on desktops, mobile devices, and servers to automate paper-based workflows with standard digital pens.

With Capturx for SharePoint, organizations can speed up workflows and meet compliance requirements by having data digitized as it's written on paper and automatically integrated into Microsoft SharePoint Server. In SharePoint, the data is instantly accessible in the original handwriting, digital text using advanced character recognition, and structured data tables. The new cloud service enables teams to benefit from instant access to this rich data and the workflow and collaboration capabilities of SharePoint without having to install or manage server software. As an alternative, teams still have the option to automate forms using Capturx for SharePoint installed on servers deployed on premise or Capturx Forms for Excel deployed on desktops. In all cases, teams avoid the cost, delays and risks from scanning, transcribing or losing paper documents.

Capturx Streamlines Field Inspections for MACTEC Engineering and Consulting
With a team of more than 3,000 professionals in 80 locations and a strong focus on environmental and geotechnical projects, MACTEC is in Engineering News-Record's top fifty list for Design Firms, Environmental Firms, and Design-Build Firms. MACTEC generates millions of pieces of paper to keep projects on track and meet compliance requirements and is now using Capturx to automate much of this paperwork.

In the case of facilities management, MACTEC helps clients manage asset lifecycles for components such as HVAC systems, fire/sprinkler systems, lighting, doors, and plumbing with separate inspections in each facility. Prior to Capturx, engineers collected this information with pen and paper and then manually entered the inspection data into the company's database. With millions of records and field teams spread across several projects at once, data entry became an expensive bottleneck, significantly slowing down facilities inspection cycles.

With the new Capturx for SharePoint service, engineers can now collect digital data instantly in the field using that same pen and paper process. The engineers print inspection forms using common printers and normal paper, which can be completed on site using digital pens. In addition to creating a normal ink record, digital copies of the data can be immediately sent to the SharePoint service using a Bluetooth connection between the pen and a mobile phone. Teams now gain immediate access to detailed information on facilities and assets, without the delay, expense, and risk of data re-entry.

"The greatest thing about Capturx is it doesn't have to change our company's time tested field processes in order to improve the speed that the information gets collected in the field and reported out to our clients," said Peyton Park, principal engineer at MACTEC.
