Africa Grabs Attention as Canada-Africa Relations Become the Centre of Debate

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 25, 2009) - Canada-Africa relations will be the centre of debate during "The New Africa" conference October 2-3 in Ottawa organized by the Canadian Council on Africa and co-chaired by the Honourable Dr. Lloyd Axworthy, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Winnipeg, and Dr. Jean-Louis Roy, President of Partenariat International.

We are pleased to announce that all Canadian stakeholders will take part in this important conference in order to offer their vision towards what should comprise the Canada-Africa partnership. This event, which positions the African continent at the centre of attention, benefits from important support from both the Canadian public and private sectors, notably:

Governmental institutions through the Ministry of International Relations of Quebec, the financial sector represented by Export Development Canada (EDC), the engineering and infrastructure sector by SNC Lavalin, the energy and mining sector by Hatch, the governance sector by CRC SOGEMA, and the secure documents sector by Canadian Bank Note Company.

As the issues are diverse, the conference will also benefit from the presence of international organizations' representatives from the African Union, the National Democratic Institute of Washington, DC, Transparency International, and Reporters Without Borders.
