AirTight Networks Announces SpectraGuard Planner 4.0

Also Enhances Wi-Fi Planning Services

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 30, 2006 -- AirTight Networks™, the leading provider of wireless intrusion prevention solutions, today announced Release 4.0 of its SpectraGuard® Planner wireless LAN and security planning tool. SpectraGuard Planner 4.0 includes enhancements and updates to plan for the latest generation of WLAN equipment, as well as technical improvements to increase the accuracy and speed of its predictive modeling. In addition, AirTight's industry-leading WiFi Planning Services will take advantage of the new capabilities in SpectraGuard Planner 4.0 to offer more customized and more accurate services than ever before.

Any enterprise that wants to deploy wireless has to answer two questions:

-- where to place the wireless APs -- to provide the required coverage,
    and
-- where to place wireless security sensors -- to detect, stop, and
locate wireless threats, intruders and rogue APs.

Solutions to this problem include: in-person site surveys, dense AP placement, or wireless planning tools. In-person surveys can provide highly accurate results, but are time-consuming and expensive -- both for the personnel time involved and also because they result in placing and then moving APs or sensors with each iteration of the survey. Dense AP placement can provide adequate coverage, but requires more capital expenditure (for more APs), and can still result in channel interference and other performance problems -- and does not address the need for wireless security coverage planning. Wireless planning tools provide a predictive planning capability at a lower cost than either site surveys or dense AP placement.

SpectraGuard Planner provides predictive plans for wireless (802.11 a/b/g) performance and coverage as well as WIPS coverage. It can plan for and model both indoor and outdoor airspaces. Output from SpectraGuard Planner includes coverage and link speed maps, channel allocation/interference models, spillage maps, security maps, and detailed equipment lists. Planner 4.0 has added significant new functions in several areas:

-- equipment modeling -- for several new APs, antennas, and new
    AP/antenna capabilities
-- enhanced RF modeling, including cross-floor spillage modeling
-- building modeling -- including an enhanced layout editor
-- site calibration/integration with live site survey data

These added capabilities enhance SpectraGuard Planner's position as the easiest-to-use, most comprehensive WLAN and wireless security planning tool on the market.

"As a provider of converged services (including enterprise and metro WiFi), Pronto Networks needs a planning tool -- to help us and our customers deploy Wireless APs. SpectraGuard Planner 4.0 has been a huge help as we've been planning wireless coverage for a number of hotel and resort properties around the world," said Vaidhya Raman, operations director at Pronto Networks. "The simplicity, ease of use, and accuracy of the tool have enabled us to save days of effort in these scenarios."

These new capabilities in Planner 4.0 are also being used in AirTight WiFi planning service offerings -- which provide the most cost effective wireless planning solution to the enterprise. For as little as 1¢ per square foot, AirTight Networks will take a customer's building or floor map, and a list of their coverage requirements, and return a completed wireless site plan -- for:

-- WLAN coverage only,
-- WIPS security coverage only, or
-- WLAN + WIPS security coverage

This service offering provides all the benefits of a predictive planning tool -- lower capex, lower install costs, more accurate coverage -- without the costs involved in acquiring the tool and training the personnel to use the tool.

"Wireless networks are exploding in the enterprise market," said Dennis Tsu, vice president of marketing, at AirTight Networks. "Planning for coverage and security is a required step at the beginning of the process, and AirTight believes our new product and service offerings represent the most cost effective solution for enterprise customers."

SpectraGuard Planner 4.0 is available immediately. For SpectraGuard Planner North American pricing starts at $2495. The base price for an AirTight WLAN coverage plan -- for up to 50,000 square feet in a single location -- is $500 (1¢/sq. ft.). AirTight Networks' family of products includes SpectraGuard® Enterprise, SpectraGuard MNC, SpectraGuard Sentry, SpectraGuard Planner, and SpectraGuard SAFE (Security Agent For Endpoints) products. As shown in the February 2006 Tolly Group report and the March 2006 Information Security Magazine review, AirTight's SpectraGuard Enterprise outperforms its competitors in wireless intrusion prevention functionality.
