Airspan and Sequans Successfully Complete Interoperability Test Accelerating Them Through WiMAX Forum Certification

Full MAC and PHY Interoperability Achieved

PARIS -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 12, 2005 -- Airspan Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: AIRN) and Sequans Communications today announced that both companies have completed thorough interoperability test designed to support the official WiMAX Forum™ certification process between Airspan's EasyST and ProST CPEs and AS.MAX MicroMAX-SOC Base Station.

An end-to-end connection was achieved between the 3.5 GHz FDD MicroMAX-SOC Base Station, which is based on the Sequans silicon solution and Airspan's self-install indoor EasyST, and Outdoor ProST. The purpose of the interoperability test was to bring Sequans and Airspan to a level of system maturity and compliancy with IEEE 802.16-2004 that will allow Airspan to rapidly achieve certification for its Micro-cell WiMAX product. The test was successfully completed and proved cross-vendor compatibility at both PHY and MAC layers.

WiMAX Forum Certification testing is underway at Cetecom labs in Spain, and the first WiMAX Forum Certified™ products -- those that are certified as conformant to the standard and interoperable with other vendors' products -- are expected to be available in the November/December timeframe.

In just one year, Sequans has met a challenging time-to-market goal in providing high-performance WiMAX silicon and software, has performed successful cross-vendor interoperability tests, shipped its equipment to CETECOM Labs for validation and conformance testing, and is the only chip vendor providing an end-to-end WiMAX solution.
