Alexandria Announces Change in Senior Management

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 14, 2010) - Alexandria Minerals Corporation (TSX VENTURE:AZX)(FRANKFURT:A9D) reports that the Company's Executive Vice President, Mr. Eddy Canova, has resigned effective January 15, in order to pursue other interests, and that it has hired Mr. Jared Beebe as Exploration Manager to oversee its exploration and development activities.

Mr. Canova, who was a co-founder of Alexandria Minerals along with President and CEO Eric Owens, was instrumental in the development of the Company, having guided Alexandria's growth as one of the largest property holders along the Cadillac Break, with three recent 43-101 compliant resource estimates under his supervision.

Eric Owens, Alexandria's President and CEO, said, "Eddy has established a strong presence in Val d'Or, and has built an excellent development program. Jared will now manage our future continued success in the region."

Mr. Beebe, who is a Professional Geologist (member of the Ordre des geologues du Quebec), brings more than 20 years of experience in the mineral exploration industry, including 5 years experience in Ontario and Quebec and the Cadillac Break region of the Abitibi belt with companies such as Noront, Clifton Star, and Freewest Resources. He brings extensive project and data management, drilling, and geological modeling experience from a wide variety of regions throughout the western hemisphere.

Mr. Canova is also departing from the Board of directors, but will continue to assist the Company as a consultant and advisor on an as-needed basis.

In other matters, the Company has extended its 2,500 m drill programme at Akasaba as a result of a significant off-hole electromagnetic anomaly discovered during a down-hole geophysical survey following the completion of Diamond Drill Hole IAX-09-61, about 400 m west of the Akasaba mine site. The initial 11 hole programme was completed shortly after the New Year, and will now include three further drill holes. Assay results are pending for all drill holes.
