Alfred B. "Ted" Ruhly Accepts Invitation to Join East Coast Diversified Corporation's Board of Directors

Ruhly Brings 60 Years of Experience in the Logistics Industry

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - April 20, 2010) -  East Coast Diversified Corporation (OTCBB: ECDC) today announced that Alfred B. Ruhly, retired Chairman of Maersk, Inc., has joined its Board of Directors. Ruhly, who is known as Ted to his friends and associates, brings with him 60 years of experience in the trucking and shipping industries. This experience will give the Board valuable insight as they develop growth strategies and additional products for ECDC's new RFID and GPS operation, inherited with the acquisition of EarthSearch Communications International, Inc.

"Ted brings such a wealth of knowledge to our organization," said Kay Aladesuyi, Chairman and CEO of ECDC and EarthSearch. "I'm looking forward to benefitting from the wisdom and experience that Ted adds to our team of directors and I am excited to see what great things will happen for EarthSearch's family of RFID and GPS solutions under Ted's Influence."

Ted Ruhly began his career in the trucking industry in 1950. After 22 years, he joined Maersk, Inc., known then as Moller Steamship Co., as Vice President of Marketing and Sales. In 1974, Ruhly was promoted to executive vice president and four years later, was named president of A.P. Moller-Maersk's U.S. Subsidiary, the first American appointed to such a position. In 1993, Ruhly was appointed chairman of the Board of Maersk, Inc., a position he held until 1999. He also served as chairman of the Board of Maersk Line Ltd. from 1983 to 1997. In 1996, while serving as chairman of Maersk, Inc. and Maersk Line Ltd., Ruhly was presented with the Port Pilot Award by the Port of Long Beach for his leadership and achievements within the shipping industry and international trade.

"If there is anything that can coax me out of retirement, this is it," said Ted Ruhly. "It's not every day that I'm presented with the opportunity to join a management team that is developing technology so crucial to the shipping industry. I strongly feel that the technology EarthSearch is offering -- where an intelligent GPS device can communicate wirelessly with an RFID Reader and that this hardware configuration can make decisions and inform operations centers in real-time, providing continuous visibility of assets in transit -- this technology is going to have a significant and lasting impact on the logistics industry. I am thrilled that I get to have a hand in watching this thing grow."
