Dr. Laffer's efforts to educate finance professionals over the past four decades is unparalleled, and his extraordinary economic research has enhanced the caliber of the industry as a whole. There is no one better suited for this inaugural award."

The AM&AA Middle Market Thought Leader Award is designed to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the middle market M&A advisory profession through the publication of works that promote research and higher standards of excellence. The AM&AA will award the Middle Market Thought Leader Award annually.

Dr. Laffer is the founder and CEO of Laffer Associates, an economic research firm that provides global investment research services to institutional asset managers, pensions funds, financial institutions and corporations. He was also a member of President Ronald Reagan's Economic Policy Advisory Board during both presidential terms. Dr. Laffer has been widely acknowledged for his economic achievements, being noted in Time magazine's March 29, 1999 cover story, "The Century's Greatest Minds," for inventing the "Laffer Curve," a curve illustrating "Tax Elasticity." Dr. Laffer is also known as "The Father of Supply-Side Economics," for his economic acumen and influence in triggering a world-wide tax-cutting movement in the 1980s. In 2009, Dr. Laffer co-authored "The Private Equity Edge: How Private Equity Players and the World's Top Companies Build Value and Wealth," with William J. Hass and Sheperd G. Pryor IV.

"The Thought Leader Award was launched to recognize those in our community that create and advocate ideas that add value to the industry, thereby adding value to AM&AA's education and credentialing programs, such as the Certified Merger & Acquisitions Advisor (CM&AA) credential," said Mike Adhikari, AM&AA President, and President and Owner of Illinois Corporate Investments, Inc. and Business ValueXpress. "Keeping in line with our commitment to provide AM&AA members and conference attendees with unparalleled, timely educational programming, we are thrilled to feature 'The Value Edge Workshop' as an addendum to the Winter Conference in Las Vegas. Who better than Dr. Laffer's accomplished co-authors to educate middle market M&A professionals on how to use concepts of intrinsic value, macroeconomics, and incentives to create value in our businesses while reducing risk in today's uncertain economic environment?"

"The Value Edge Workshop" is largely based on the books "The Private Equity Edge: How Private Equity Players and the World's Top Companies Build Value and Wealth" and "The Board Perspective Series: Building Value Through Strategy, Risk Assessment and Renewal." It will deliver innovative, practical ideas for creating value and wealth that can be used by businesses small and large. Weaving value, the people effect, risk and macroeconomics together with lessons from the world of private equity, workshop participants will learn techniques and tools top value builders use to create huge shareholder value and wealth for their partners and owners.

The workshop is preceded by the 12th AM&AA Winter Conference, the AM&AA's semi-annual meeting, featuring two full days of education from industry experts on issues related to the current financial climate. In addition, the conference will include a day-long Transaction Exchange, including a two-hour Deal Bash featuring exhibiting intermediaries and investment bankers.
