Alphakid Is Giving the Gift of Reading to Underprivileged Children

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Nov. 25, 2009) - Alphakid (http://www.alphakid.com/) Personalized Books for Children is proud to announce its support to The Gift of Reading® project initiated by the Literacy Foundation. Each time the story A Wacky Christmas Journey (http://www.alphakid.com/catalog/product/312) is purchased from Alphakid.com from November 10 to December 31, 2009, Alphakid will donate one dollar to the foundation.

The Gift of Reading®

The Gift of Reading® project aims to prevent illiteracy among children from underprivileged backgrounds and encourage young people to stay in school. Its goal is to collect as many new books as possible for underprivileged children across Quebec.

This initiative is highly linked to Alphakid's mission, which is to encourage youth to develop a love for reading by building their self-esteem through personalized books.

Each story is personalized so that the main character has the same physical and social characteristics as the child receiving the book. The text and illustrations change so that the hero bears the same name, family and friends as the child. The hero also has the same hair, eyes and skin tone!
