Alpine Canada Alpin Announces 2007/2008 Canadian Alpine Ski Team

New season promises to be better than ever with TELUS events in Whistler and Panorama

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 30, 2007) - World Cup champion John Kucera (Calgary, AB) and 2006 World Junior champion Stefan Guay (Mont-Tremblant, QC) are excited to be part of this season's Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA) line-up and are poised to make a big impact on the slopes.

"Everyday, we are thrilled to compete to the highest level possible. We strive for perfection every time we stand in that start hut, whether it be a Nor-Am race or a World Cup," Guay said.

The announcement came today at the TELUS flagship store in Toronto as Alpine Canada Alpin announced the 2007/2008 edition of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team, including last year's World Cup champions Erik Guay (Mont-Tremblant, QC) and John Kucera (Calgary, AB).

"Our objective is to build a culture of winning, to be the best in the world, at every level" said Ken Read, ACA's Chief Executive Officer. "Finding every hundredth of a second requires significant human and technical resources. We are grateful to TELUS, our newest Platinum sponsor for helping to provide us with those resources."

Alpine Canada Alpin also today announced that TELUS has signed a new one-year, $1 million dollar sponsorship, and will be extending its long-standing commitment to ski racing in Canada through to 2012.

Steve Podborski, Executive Director of TELUS Sports Marketing said, "We are committed to Alpine Canada Alpin and are focused on helping young, up-and-coming athletes. We want to play a greater role in getting young Canadians to the podium."

In addition to helping athletes to the podium, TELUS will be a title sponsor of two World Cups in Canada during the 2007/08 season: TELUS presents the Whistler World Cup from Feb. 21 to 24, 2008 and TELUS presents the Panorama World Cup Nov. 24 and 25. TELUS will also be the title sponsor of Canadian Para-Alpine ski championships, which will be held in Sun Peaks, British Columbia from March 10 to 13, 2008.
