Alpine Selects Encirq DeviceSQL for Use in New Car Audio Players

North American Sales Initially Targeted for New Car Audio Systems

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - January 7, 2008) - Encirq® Corporation, a leading provider of software and services for high-performance embedded data processing and management, and its subsidiary Encirq Japan, announced that Alpine Electronics Japan (Headquarters: Shinagawa Nishigotanda, President Tadashi Ishiguro), has selected Encirq's DeviceSQL embedded database for use in Alpine's car audio players, the "iDA-X200" and "iDA-X300." These new car audio systems will be on display at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, with initial sales of the new systems targeting North America.

Alpine's "iDA-X200" and "iDA-X300" car audio players will provide support not only for music players like the Apple iPod, but also for high-speed search of music files on inexpensive devices like USB memory sticks.

Registering music information is extremely fast, so the USB memory can be searched and songs played immediately after insertion. Users can search not just by file name, but also by using the artist's name and title. The speed of the system is as fast as using the internal audio system's hard disk player.

Alpine Electronics Co., Ltd. director in charge of product development AVNC Satoshi Soma said, "We evaluated several embedded database products and selected DeviceSQL because it provided both high speed search and small memory utilization. Encirq's familiarity with embedded systems and the expertise of their professional services group helped Alpine products achieve extreme improvement with regards to performance."

Deborah Goslin, Encirq Corporation's CEO, stated, "Alpine Electronics is leading the development of next-generation automotive electronics and car lifestyle products. For that reason I am thankful that they understood the value of our embedded database and chose it for use in their most advanced products. We will continue to support Alpine in their quest to develop products with high usability for the future."

Encirq continues to accelerate adoption of DeviceSQL in the automotive sector.

DeviceSQL provides the following advantages which are leading its adoption in the market with the automotive sector as a strong start:

-- Extremely small size (memory footprint of 24-50KB)
-- Speed (20X-30X faster than typical embedded databases -- Encirq study)
-- Support for a variety of storage media
-- The fastest start speed (20X - 30X faster than typical embedded
    databases -- Encirq study)
-- Reliability (fast response, automotive-grade reliability)

About DeviceSQL

Encirq DeviceSQL is a next-generation software development kit (SDK) for building optimized embedded databases and high-performance code for manipulating data. It consists of the DeviceSQL programming language, the DeviceSQL Compiler for compiling SQL statements into optimized ANSI C source code, and modular runtime services that provide an ultra-efficient runtime environment for virtually any target operating system and CPU. DeviceSQL works together with most popular development environments and integrates easily with existing software applications via three different types of application programming interfaces (APIs).
