CBS 3, Philadelphia Magazine Present First-Ever 'Best Philadelphian' Award

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 25, 2005 -- Philadelphia Magazine's popular "Best of Philly" issue may not hit newsstands until August, but CBS 3 will give viewers a sneak peek at the annual list of what's hot locally in food, shopping and entertainment next week.

Alycia Lane and Larry Mendte will host Philadelphia Magazine's "Best of Philly 2005," Thursday, July 28, 7:30 p.m. on Channel 3. (The special will be rebroadcast Sunday, July 31, 11 a.m. on the station.) The half-hour program will feature the magazine's most extensive "best of" list ever with more than 125 new categories including two new features -- a list of "helping hand" services" that can make your life a breeze and the first ever "Best Philadelphian" award presented to the person who contributed the most to life in our region in the past year. CBS 3 will broadcast the presentation of this year's Award given the night before at the magazine's reception honoring this year's "Best of" winners at World Café Live.

Highlights of the half hour also include Kathy Orr's rundown of the best services for children and parents (cooking and yoga classes included), Alycia Lane's feature on the ultimate luxury -- the personal shoppers at Saks Fifth Avenue who can outfit you head to toe, and Bob Kelly and Philadelphia Magazine writer Rich Rys's search for the hottest new places in Philly (would you believe bowling is back?).

Philadelphia Magazine's "Best of Philly 2005" is presented by Bank of America, Hifi House, Sharp Electronics and Mercedes-Benz. Jonelle Fabian is producer of Philadelphia Magazine's "Best of Philly 2005." Bob Byrne and Joan Sill are segment producers.
