American College of Education Makes 2011 List of Military Friendly Schools

List Shows Veterans Which Colleges Are a Good Fit for Receiving Online Master's Degree in Education

PITTSBURGH, PA--(Marketwire - August 23, 2010) -  G.I. Jobs announced that American College of Education has been recognized in the 2011 list of Friendly Military Schools at The list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools which are doing the most to embrace America's veterans as students. The American College of Education helps military personal receive their master's degree in education online, making it very accommodating for their students.

American College of Education worked to create a friendly military school because of the level of maturity and dedication veterans bring to the teaching profession. "Our Military students are incredibly focused on raising the standard in their classrooms through our master's degree programs online," stated Dr. Jeri Nowakowski, American College of Education's President, "and in the long run, it is America's K-12 students who reap the benefit."

The number of veterans using the Post 9/11 GI Bill has doubled in the last two years and American College of Education has a dramatic increase in enrollment with many going into the Educational Leadership Program.

"Leadership comes natural to most veterans and when they move into a teaching career, many look to become principals and superintendents," stated American College Dean, Dr. Dennis Gooler. "We are very proud to be honored as one of the top military friendly schools and more proud to provide an outstanding option for military veterans who want to receive a master's degree online in education to be able to teach."

In a press release from GI Jobs, Derek Blumke, president of Student Veterans of America was quoted as saying, "The Military Friendly Schools list is the gold standard in letting veterans know which schools will offer them the greatest opportunity, flexibility and overall experience. It's especially important now with so many schools competing for military students."

This was the first time that American College of Education was considered for the Military Friendly School designation. Because the online Master's in Education programs costs are below most military reimbursement programs and they accept GI Bill, Tuition Assistance and have been designated Yellow Ribbon by the VA, the school easily received the designation on the first try.
