American Petro-Hunter Updates Completion Plans for #24-1 Double H Oil Well at Rooney Project, Kansas

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - December 4, 2009) - American Petro-Hunter, Inc. (OTCBB: AAPH) ("American Petro-Hunter" or the "Company") is pleased to update completion plans for the #24-1 Double H Oil Well at the Rooney Project, Kansas.

The completion rig is scheduled to arrive next week in order to test and assist in the preparation of the well for commercial production. It is anticipated that preliminary estimates regarding production performance will be available on or around December 10th. During this period, the newly discovered oil bearing horizon will be perforated, then swab tested, and down-hole pressures will be analyzed. The completion results will provide the Company the ability to estimate what the Initial Production Rates (I.P.R.) could be. Ultimately, daily production rates will be fully established once the well is put "on pump" and the actual barrels of oil produced to the tanks are measured.

Follow up plans targeting offset drill locations have now become an integral part of the strategic goals for the Rooney lease. Concurrently, the project partners aim to rapidly move ahead with the construction of surface tanks and the installation of ancillary infrastructure in order to facilitate and anticipate immediate and future production needs.

Company President Robert McIntosh states, "Our immediate plans include a series of meetings with the working interest partners and the operator in order to work on preparations that can best achieve a full field development program in short order. We have already identified up to ten promising targets and are readying plans to move ahead with what we hope will be the first in a series of 5 wells chosen as the best candidates heading into 2010. We are very pleased with events to-date and are really looking forward to moving ahead with this very promising scenario."
