American Technology Receives LRAD® Order From China for National Law Enforcement

$620,000 Order Shipping to China This Quarter

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - October 22, 2009) - American Technology Corporation (ATC) (NASDAQ: ATCO), the innovator and distributor of the Long Range Acoustic Device™ (LRAD®) product line, announced today that it has received a new LRAD® order from China to support its national law enforcement agencies. The $620,000 order was facilitated through Trans Tech International, the Company's representative in China.

ATC's proprietary LRAD directed sound products and systems enable law enforcement to communicate clearly at safe distances, broadcasting critical information, instructions and warnings. Law enforcement personnel are trained on the proper use of LRAD and have full control of the audio output through a prominently positioned volume control knob. LRAD's broadcasts can be easily and quickly adjusted based on situational use. Additionally, LRAD systems can be mounted on various police vehicles for rapid deployment. LRAD creates increased standoff and safety zones, supports resolution of uncertain situations, and potentially prevents the use of deadly force.

"This order is an important milestone in our efforts to supply international law enforcement with LRAD's unique capability to communicate clearly in any language over distance," commented Tom Brown, president and CEO of ATC. "We expect to receive additional LRAD orders for international law enforcement agencies this quarter."
