Amerix Appoints New CEO

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 23, 2007) - Amerix Precious Metals Corporation (TSX VENTURE:APM)(FWB:NJG) reported that its Board of Directors today announced that Keith A. Laskowski, M.Sc. (Geol.), has accepted the positions of President and Chief Executive Officer with the Corporation, effective immediately. Amerix's former President and CEO, John Andrews, has stepped aside and remains Chairman of the Board. From his role as Chairman, Mr. Andrews will assist Mr. Laskowski in assuming a smooth transition to the post of CEO.

Keith Laskowski is a highly accomplished geologist and mining executive who has focused the last ten years of his career on venturing exploration projects to mining groups, mostly in Latin America, Asia and North America. To date, Mr. Laskowski has facilitated the joint venture or acquisition of more than 100 exploration projects and attracted over $20 million of investment commitments from venture partners around the world. He has been involved in the mining industry since 1979, and he brings extensive experience and expertise in mineral exploration and business administration to the Company. He also serves as Vice President and Director of Northern Canadian Minerals Inc. and the President of KAL Exploration Inc., a private company which provides exploration management services to public and private companies. Mr. Laskowski's graduate research, which focused on Precambrian gold deposits; combined with his 24 years of gold exploration experience, including 17 years with Newmont Exploration Ltd., make him ideally suited to direct Amerix's gold exploration programs in Brazil.

John Andrews, Chairman, expressed, "On behalf of the Board of Directors, it is my pleasure to welcome Keith to Amerix. He brings solid technical knowledge and a great deal of exploration savvy to the Company. As I step away from management, it will be of great comfort to me knowing that the Company is in such capable hands." Mr. Laskowski received a Master of Science degree in geological sciences from the Colorado School of Mines, and is a Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101. He is a QP member of the Mining and Metallurgical Society of America, a Fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists and a member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration.

Subject to regulatory approval, the Corporation has granted an aggregate of 500,000 incentive stock options to Mr. Laskowski at a price of $0.275 per share and exercisable for a period of five years, expiring on January 22, 2012.
