Amex Announces Beginning of a New Phase of Drilling at Normetal

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Dec. 8, 2009) - Amex Exploration Inc. (TSX VENTURE:AMX) is pleased to announce the beginning of a drilling program on four InfiniTEM anomalies located in the vast Normetal property, which consists of 155 claims for a total area of 5,931 hectares held 100% by Amex in the Abitibi region in Quebec, Canada.

A MegaTEM aerial geophysical survey was conducted in 2003 by the Noranda-Falconbridge-Virginia Gold Mines Group in a large sector of Abitibi, which almost completely covered the Normetal property. At least four anomalous zones were detected during this survey. In November 2007, surface monitoring of 4 anomalous sectors of the property was performed by Abitibi Geophysique, consisting of a magnetometric survey of 30 linear km and one InfiniTEM survey of 24 km. A total of 9 electromagnetic or conductive anomalies were detected, originating from a probable metal source in these 4 sectors. This campaign will test the four best conductors potentially corresponding to volcanogenic massive sulphide mineralization. The former Normetal mine is located between 12 and 22 kilometres west of these anomalies. It will be recalled that the Normetal mine produced 11 million tonnes assaying at 2.15% Cu, 5.15% Zn, 0.55 g/t Au and 45.25 g/t Ag. The purpose of the proposed drilling program is to verify, by means of four drill holes, the presence of mineralization at depths ranging between 50 and 100 metres in zones which had never been tested previously.

These conductors would be located slightly north or south of the Normetal mine in stratigraphic terms, in a sequence of mafic to intermediate lavas and felsic tuffs. The massive sulphide intersections encountered during drilling on the Great Plains showing, located at the east end of the property, are situated at the interface between a mafic lava unit and a felsic tuff. Many significant intersections are reported in drilling on the Great Plains showing. Here are the best results:

----------------------------------------------------------
Survey Length Cu Zn Ag
(m) % % g/t
----------------------------------------------------------
GP-1 2.1 8.0 2.7 89.0
----------------------------------------------------------
GP-3 1.4 2.6 0.8 32.6
----------------------------------------------------------
GP-4 1.2 5.8 0.1 4.5
----------------------------------------------------------

The proposed drilling program initially will consist of four diamond drillings totalling about 500 metres and should be performed over a period of two weeks. The results should be available in January 2010.

Parallel to this, the compilation on the gold-bearing sector of the Perron property is in progress and Amex plans to conduct another drilling phase in this sector at the beginning of 2010. Let us remember that an initial estimate of mineral resources in Zone 3 totalling 70,000 ounces of gold (inferred resources) was established in this sector in April 2009 (see news release of April 22, 2009).
