Amicus latest comment on NCR closure in Dundee

DUNDEE, SCOTLAND--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 12, 2007) -

Peter Skyte, Amicus' National Officer, said:

"We understand that NCR has received some millions of pounds from the Scottish Executive and possibly the European Union and this needs to be investigated. We and UK taxpayers need to know that they are not paying the company to close their plant here to enable them to shift production to lower wage Hungary.

"We will be meeting with the First Minister for Scotland next week to do everything we can to maximise employment prospects for the NCR Dundee workforce and need to have answers to whether NCR has been subsidised to export jobs."
