Andreas Vollenweider and Carly Simon Spread Holiday Cheer on "Midnight Clear"

All New Recording Out on SLG Records October 24

SANTA MONICA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 29, 2006 -- Andreas Vollenweider has just completed work on his first ever holiday album -- MIDNIGHT CLEAR -- a unique collection of original compositions and traditional Old World holiday songs, many of which date as far back as the 11th Century, reinterpreted by the Grammy Award-winning harpist. Collaborating with Andreas Vollenweider on MIDNIGHT CLEAR is the incomparable Carly Simon. One of the definitive voices in pop music, the Grammy Award, Academy Award and Golden Globe Award-winner lends her songwriting and vocal talents on four tracks including the single and title track. MIDNIGHT CLEAR will be released on October 24 on SLG Records (a unit of The Savoy Label Group).

Without a doubt, MIDNIGHT CLEAR looks to be a truly distinctive holiday release both for the creativity of the compositions and the originality of the repertoire and of course, because it is a collaborative showcase with Carly Simon. In fact, their friendship and musical relationship go back more than 25 years ago to the beginnings of both of their careers. Carly appears on several of Andreas' albums and Andreas is the godfather to one of her children. The strong bond between the two comes through in the effortless grace in Carly's voice and the overall warmth of their four songs together.

Vollenweider has been enjoying a remarkable burst of creativity since signing with his new US distributor, The Savoy Label Group. Earlier this year saw the CD and DVD release of "The Magical Journeys of Andreas Vollenweider," a PBS pledge drive special filmed and recorded around the world and featuring special appearances by Carly Simon, David Lindley and even the Dalai Lama. He recently topped the charts in 2005 with his Kin Kou debut album "VOX" and his career retrospective "The Magic Harp."

Vollenweider has long been lauded for his distinctive musical talent and inventiveness. He took up the harp as his instrument of choice and in the early 1970s invented the first electro-acoustic harp. Since the release of his debut album, "Eine Art Suite XIII Teilen" in 1979, the acclaimed harpist has sold over 20 million records worldwide, earned 5 multi-platinum awards in the US alone and is a Grammy Award winner.
