Andrew Duggan Joins Irish Technology Leadership Group

Dynamic Energy Capital CEO and Former CIO of LPL Financial: "Ireland Will Be a Haven for Green Technologies"

SAN FRANCISCO, CA and SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - April 25, 2008) - Twenty years ago, most people wouldn't have called Ireland a land of opportunity. Economic hardship and terrorism were the international headlines. But don't try to convince Andrew Duggan, CEO of Dynamic Energy Capital.

"In fact, it was a time of great opportunity. The Irish government made a crucial leap during those challenging days," said Duggan, "and initiated a vital knowledge economy, taking Ireland from among Europe's poorest nations, to among the wealthiest. Today, Ireland has the second highest per capita income in all of Europe and fourth highest in the world."

Duggan should know. He was born in Ireland before ultimately relocating to the United States. He received his secondary education through the auspices of Ireland's new educational system, going on to serve as CIO at LPL Financial, where he helped grow revenues from $700 Million to over $2.7 Billion. He also held an executive consulting position with Fortune 500 firm Sempra Energy.

Duggan recently dedicated himself to creating the same opportunity for future generations in Ireland, by joining the Irish Technology Leadership Group, founded by fellow Irish American and Palm Senior VP John Hartnett.

"I would never be where I am today without these programs," said Duggan. "But more is needed. Ireland correctly predicted the emerging digital revolution. Now it's time for Ireland and Irish Americans to embrace the next emerging economy: green technologies that will drive business growth and worldwide change in the 21st century."

Dozens of Irish citizens now reside in the executive suites of Silicon Valley, where the ITLG convened its latest summit. Notable attendees included Intel chairman Craig Barrett.

"I was particularly impressed by the number of executives I met who are already working in the green sector," said Duggan. "Ireland has demonstrated its commitment, with over 220M Euros being invested in these technologies."

At the summit, Duggan met with Micheál Martin, Irish Minister of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, to learn firsthand about the nation's progressive green-investment strategies. "Mr. Martin is continuing the new tradition of Irish leadership," said Duggan.

"My hope is that Ireland will take the next leap forward," said Duggan. "They made a successful transition from an industrial economy to a knowledge economy. Now, they can be a leader in the worldwide transition to a truly green and sustainable one."

With the help of Duggan and others like him, this worldwide transition may be closer than we think.
