Ann Gentry of Real Food Daily at Tofu Festival and LA Wine & Food Festival

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 3, 2006 --Ann Gentry, author of "The Real Food Daily Cookbook," (Ten Speed Press, $24.95) and owner of Real Food Daily Restaurants, will be participating in the LA Tofu Festival, which is set for Saturday, Aug. 12, from 2 to 10 p.m., and on Sunday, Aug. 13, from 12 to 6 p.m. Gentry will be on stage preparing a Grilled Tofu Sandwich w/ sun dried tomato pesto spread and sauteed onions with Caesar Salad with a non-dairy Caesar dressing on the 12th at 2:30 p.m., with a book signing immediately after. The Tofu Festival will take place in downtown Los Angeles, on San Pedro Street, between 2nd Street and 3rd Street. General admission is $8, and dishes range from $1 to $4 per serving.

Gentry will also appear at the LA Wine and Food Festival, scheduled for Friday, Aug. 25, from 6 to 10 p.m., at the Los Angeles Marriott Downtown, and Saturday, Aug. 26 and Sunday, Aug. 27, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Los Angeles Conventions Center. Gentry will be demonstrating her recipe for Lentil Walnut Pate w/ wheat free Sesame Crackers (which goes great with wine) on the 26th at 5 p.m.. Tickets for this event are from $225 to $425 and can be purchased online at www.lawineandfoodfest.com.

Gentry, considered a pioneer in the vegan food movement in Los Angeles, recently released her first cookbook, "The Real Food Daily Cookbook" which features several tofu-based recipes, including the ever-popular Gingered Tofu and Coconut Cream Pie with Chocolate Sauce. Gentry also continues to over-see both her Santa Monica and West Hollywood, Calif. restaurant locations. "I am really looking forward to appearing at these festivals because they are so different from each other, yet they both celebrate the beauty and benefits of healthy food," said Gentry.

Several celebrity chefs will be appearing at both events; the Tofu Festival will include Tommy Tang, Iron Chef Morimoto and Troy Thompson of "Iron Chef America," Reggie Sutherland, of "The Next Food Network Star," Scott Liebfried of "Hell's Kitchen," Candace Kumai of Bravo's "Top Chef," and many others. The LA Wine & Food Festival will feature such well-known cookbook authors as Cat Cora, David Lawrence and Amy Reiley.

The Tofu Festival will feature over 100 creative tofu dishes prepared by some of LA's hottest restaurants, a variety of Pan Asian and non-vegetarian specialties, and artisnal soy products. All proceeds will benefit the programs of the Little Tokyo Service Center (www.LTSC.org). The LA Wine and Food Festival will showcase over 100 wines along with samplings of some of the finest appetizers, candy and chocolates, cheeses, coffee, tea, cocoa, nuts, jams, meats and pates, oils and vinegars, seafood, caviar and more.
